DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor and don’t claim to know how to cure you ; ) I’m sharing what worked for me. Please see your doctor for all your medical and health needs. I also don’t claim to receive answers from God for anyone except for me and my family. Having said that, I believe it was an answer to prayer for which I credit God in this post.
I’ve been pregnant for almost 2 months now and my main issue I’ve had to address, like so many women, is morning sickness. I’ve been blessed to be the least nauseated this time around compared to my past pregnancies. I do have dry eyes with these last two pregnancies, which I didn’t experience with my others. My symptoms include chills, nausea, and little bouts of diarrhea here and there – almost like food poisoning.
I’m so excited to share with you something I came across that has helped immensely with morning sickness. I was really pondering about what causes morning sickness and how I can get relief from it. I prayed and asked God to help me understand it’s causes and if it be his will, to be relieved, even just a little, from it. I didn’t get an answer right then, but randomly the next morning as I was making breakfast.
The thought came to me Apple Cider Vinegar. I also had the thought it was caused by bacteria in your stomach. Sometimes you think they’re your own thoughts, but the thought kept coming back. ACV is a normal part of our family’s life and a go to when any of us have stomach upset issues. I had some in my cupboard and was willing to try anything for relief. I put a tablespoon in a pint jar of apple juice and drank it within a half hour. Wow. What a difference it made for me! Within 10 minutes my chills and nausea were drastically reduced to almost nothing. I was surprised it worked so quickly.
It made sense that the symptoms I was experiencing were very much like having a bug in my stomach, which seemed to be the case. Because of the immediate results I felt, I went straight to the internet to to see if there was anything out there about stomach bacteria and a link to morning sickness. There was. Helicobacter Pylori. As soon as I saw the name I remembered reading about it years before, and had promised to treat my morning sickness accordingly if I got pregnant again. Funny thing was, I had completely forgotten about it!
Helicobacter Pylori is a bacteria that is very common in many people, but thrive in women with increased hormonal production. this increases colonization of H Pylori, making most women sick until the completion of their third month. At that point, the placenta takes over hormone production for the baby and most women see their nausea symptoms go away. Unfortunately, some women don’t experience a return to any normal, with extreme nausea and vomiting and hospitalization being their “normal” all the way up to delivery.
So last night I was excited to not only continue with ACV, but try some other things that I read kills H Pylori, which I’ll talk more about below. Because more IS more when it comes to curbing morning sickness. It’s the shotgun approach. Try whatever works. My husband Matt graciously went with me to the store at 10 pm last night getting all these fermented foods and supplements. They even had colloidal silver in their health isle. Thank you H-E-B. I love you.
One other thing I forgot to add in my picture. Peppermint. I plan to steep it and make an herbal tea with it. My health and wellness doctor suggested 2 drops of peppermint essential oil in a full glass of water to drink, and a couple drops in a little carrier oil rubbed on my tummy for morning sickness. I wanted to to try this variation to see if it worked too.
Some things I researched that helps kill H Pylori and pictured above is colloidal silver, a strong antibiotic, and fermented foods. This would include cheeses, sour cream, cottage cheese, sauerkraut, pickles, and sourdough bread.
I read that because the acid in your stomach is high, the H Pylori like to burrow into your stomach lining, creating havoc on your stomach lining. Stomach ulcers are caused by H Pylori and are treated with antibiotics. It can cause MANY other problems like allergies just to name one. Because of the burrowing, it’s difficult to treat. Baking soda water is thought to bring the hellions out of the lining with the higher alkalinity. AND THEN YOU NUKE ‘EM.
I introduce world war three with beneficial bacteria, so I’ll be drinking kefir and a probiotic. Some people have reported great success drinking kombucha, which is chalked full of probiotics. I don’t drink tea with the exception of the one above, but if you decide to try it, let me know if it works. I also found some good belly probiotic juice at the store also. This might be a better option for dairy intolerant people instead of kefir.
This brings me to another thought. Maybe dairy or other sensitivities are caused by these hitlers and when we bring them in check the sensitivities will go away. I am currently sensitive to dairy and gluten so this will be a fun experiment to try.
Colloidal silver and apple cider vinegar help to kill bacteria, so I recommend taking them separately from your probiotic, kefir, kambucha, etc. for maximum results. My health and wellness doctor told me to take my probiotic with a full glass of water (if you can stomach that ladies) on an empty stomach 30-60 minutes before eating. I usually take mine early early in the morning when I use the bathroom but not ready to wake up yet, so I’m not awake and waiting while my probiotic works. As we all know, an empty stomach is a no go for pregnant women and morning sickness.
I give all credit to God and thank him for answering my prayer. I hope it helps as many women as it can suffering with morning sickness. It’s no fun, especially when you’ve got other children depending on you for their care.
I will post the most helpful article I found on the net about morning sickness and H Pylori below.
On to baby victory!
