Hi!
Here’s a little bit about me:
My name is Natalie Rix and I come from a family of seven children and two sets of twins, me and my brother being one of them. I am in the splat middle of the sibling lineup, being older than my twin brother by 30 minutes. So like any middle child, I yearned for attention, and maybe why I love the performing arts.
I was ten when my sisters and I put on a show for my parents. I dressed up like Dolly, stuffing my shirt with balloons while my sisters sang “9 to 5” alongside me. My parents laughed and laughed. I learned something that left an impression on me: I could make people laugh from performing, it made them happy, and it made me happy too.
I started playing the piano at age five, but when I was fourteen my parents didn’t have enough money to continue lessons, so I came to a fork in the road when I could decide to continue playing on my own, or stop lessons to the envy of many kids I’m sure. I chose to keep playing and started composing (see Mom and Dad, your money didn’t go to waste!). I self-produced and released an album on iTunes and continue to compose today.
I went to college and married a man that loves to fly. I started learning too. On the day I flew solo (the only person in the airplane), I flew in the pattern around the airport and landed. He sent me up again. And again. And again. When I landed for good, he came out nonchalantly and bragged he met Reba McIntire in the pilots lounge over a bag of popcorn. I don’t know what I felt more: excited that I flew an airplane by myself, or jealous that my instructor got to meet Reba.
Today I am a part of a production company that releases a short film, shot on a Red, every day of the month. I’m blessed to be able to immerse myself in acting, writing, directing, producing, assistant directing, ACing, script supervising, PAing, sleep deprivation, and everything else in-between, if there is anything.
While I love the performing arts, I love God and family more. My desire to perform is to glorify God by reaching my highest potential, and with His guidance, fulfill the reason for which I am created.
